about
Hello & welcome!
My name is Dr. Lauren Meyer. I am a Licensed Psychologist based in Tucson, Arizona. I provide in-person therapy services for children, adolescents, and young adults (18 - 22). I am a certified Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) Instructor. I offer YMHFA Trainings for community members and educators.
I am an Arizona native! I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Arizona State University (Go, Devils!), my Master's Degree in Forensic Psychology from John Jay College of Criminal Justice - City University of New York (Go, Bulldogs!), and my PhD in School Psychology from the University of Arizona (Go, Wildcats!). I completed my pre-doctoral internship training with the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. I completed a post-doctoral fellowship with the Wisconsin Center for Education Research and the Sun Prairie Area School District in Madison, Wisconsin. I am a Licensed Psychologist (AZ & WI), Nationally Certified School Psychologist, a certified Arizona School Psychologist, and a credentialed Health Service Psychologist. I currently serve as a Professor of Practice in the School Psychology Program at the University of Arizona where I train future psychologists. I continue to engage with the community through advocacy work and collaborate with colleagues through research. My training focused on assessment, consultation, and therapy for children, adolescents, and young adults. I love working with this age group; there is so much learning and growing in this season of life. Having conducted evaluations, therapy, and consultation services in diverse settings, I am very familiar with the importance of rich collaboration between practitioners, clients, families, and educators. My approach utilizes an integrative process using several evidence-based treatment modalities. I draw largely from the principles of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, due to its flexibility and empirical support, and Positive Psychology, with its emphasis on strengths and nurturing overall well-being. I use mindfulness and self-compassion strategies heavily in my practice. Within these approaches, is my deep appreciation for development. We are all on a unique journey based on our experiences. It is my goal to work collaboratively with clients so they can learn, heal, and grow into the best versions of themselves. I am dedicated to working collaboratively with clients to identify meaningful and effective strategies for change. I am an ally and promote equity, kindness, and safety in my practice. In my free time, I love going on adventures with my husband, our daughter, and our miniature schnauzer, Harley! |
